Any person convicted of the sex offenses listed in Tennessee Code Annotated, §40-39-202(20) and (28) needs to register. Further, any person convicted in another jurisdiction of an offense that can be classified as one of the offenses listed above. Any person required to register in another state, upon establishing sufficient presence in Tennessee, must register in Tennessee, unless the sexual offense disposition occurred in juvenile court. Information collected includes photograph, name, aliases, date and place of birth, social security number, drivers license number, conviction information, place of employment, address of residence; and if on supervised release – name and agency of person responsible for supervision.

Administrating Agency:
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is the central repository for the records of the Sex Offender Registry. TBI also maintains the Registry’s website. Actual registration of sex offenders is done by local law enforcement agencies and state parole/probation offices across Tennessee.
Penalties for Non-Compliance:
Violation of the Registry law is a Class E felony with mandatory jail time.
